Leading Chinese construction equipment manufacturer SDLG is celebrating after the company received two awards for its commitment to environmental protection.
, the construction brand produced by leading Chinese equipment manufacturer Shandong Lingong Construction Machinery Co., Ltd (known as Lingong), has been awarded the Green Leadership Award and the Corporate Social Responsibility Award at the 2016 China Charity Festival in Beijing. Established in 2011, the China Charity Festival aims to promote charitable spirit and actions. SDLG
was recognized for its longstanding commitment to environmental conservation and charity campaigns. The judging panel consisted of academics as well as representatives from charity organizations, renowned research institutions and media outlets.

In 2007, SDLG
initiated an energy saving research project which later resulted in the production of its first generation energy-saving wheel loaders
in 2009 that consume 10% less energy than similar products. In 2012, the company signed a partnership agreement with the Worldwide Fund for Nature (WWF) and became the first construction equipment company to make a pledge to reduce carbon dioxide emission by 1.65 million tons in three years. The target was duly met. In response to the tier 3 legislation which recently came into effect, the company also rolled out its latest F-Series machines which reduce emissions.
In the next five years, SDLG
will invest more than 300 million yuanes in a ‘smart manufacturing’ project in partnership with the School of Software of Tsinghua University. The project aims to establish intelligent plants in pursuit of zero emissions in production.
In its signature Top Driver program which began four years ago, SDLG
organized theoretical and practical tests for participants in the contest and offered free-of-change professional training for those starting out in a career in equipment operation with an aim to improve safety and operator efficiency. Last year, the company incorporated an environmental aspect into its signature Top Driver program by engaging participants in a tree-planting event.
The company’s commitment to charity extends far beyond its equipment business. To date, Shandong Lingong has established three Hope primary schools in Xinjiang, Anshan and Sichuan. Organized by the China Youth Development Foundation (CYDF) and the Communist Youth League (CYL) Central Committee, Project Hope is a Chinese public service project which aims to establish schools in poverty-stricken, rural areas in China so children can complete their elementary school education.
